Libya’s private sector main driver for economic recovery

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) says a new assessment indicates that the Libyan private sector is the country’s main economic recovery driver.
“A new assessment of the Libyan labor market attributes a key role to the private sector as a driver for economic recovery and the country’s future prosperity,” IOM said in a statement.
The assessment was conducted by the United Nations Development Programme and the IOM, financed by the European Union and Japan.
Agriculture, construction, automobile and care services have the highest potential to generate decent employment for Libyans and migrants alike, the statement said.
“The ultimate goal of this assessment is to increase the engagement and participation of the domestic and migrant workforce in the private sector businesses and therefore enhance the economic activity and social cohesion in the respective regions of Libya,” IOM explained.
