The Auditor-General of the Federation, Mr Aghughu Adolphhs, has been elected Chairperson of African Union (AU) Board External Auditors.
A statement by Rotimi Ajayi, Deputy Director, Information,said that the election was conducted on February 23, in line with African Union Financial Rules and Regulations.
Rotimi said that Adolphus would spend a period of two years in office.
Meanwhile, the new Chairperson has expressed commitment to strengthen the AU Board of External Auditors and entrench accountability and transparency.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for giving him the opportunity to serve as Auditor General of the Federation.
“It will be a foremost audit institution applying best professional practice towards fostering good governance and providing leadership to other Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).
“I will like to use this opportunity to congratulate Mr President for my appointment as Auditor General, and subsequent confirmation by the Senate.
“We look forward to a fruitful and beneficial interaction during Nigeria’s term of office from 2021 to 2023,” he said.
