China grants Mali 4.5 billion CFAF for projects

The Chinese government, through an economic and technical cooperation agreement, is granting Mali 4.5 billion CFAF to finance projects to be agreed by the two parties.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday in Bamako by the Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Zeïni Moulaye, and the Chinese ambassador to Mali, Zhu Liying.

The signing of the economic and technical cooperation agreement is the implementation of the eight initiatives of the last summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), held in Beijing on 3 and 4 September 2018.

The Chinese ambassador said the use of this amount will be defined by mutual agreement between the parties, so that it will be beneficial to the economic and social development of Mali and the strengthening of the capacity of its institutions.

The Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said he was convinced that the agreement will further pave the way for others.
