Carlcon begins training of NEPZA’s new employees

The five-day training of new employees of the Nigeria Export Processing Authority (NEPZA) kicked off at Merit House in Abuja on Monday, October 5, 2020.

The programme being facilitated by Carlcon Free Zone Consulting is designed to impact basic information about the Free Zone Scheme, the zones’ ecosystem and the importance to host country and the world at large.

This training geared to ensure that the employees have the basic knowledge required to perform their job with satisfaction.

This is important because it provides the new employees with concise and accurate information that would make the workers more comfortable on the job.

It also promotes communication between the supervisor and the new employee

The CEO of Carlcon, Mr Chris Ndibe, in a profile, said that day is the beginning of their career in the free zone scheme.

“The message today is that you own your career and therefore will decide what you will make out of it.

“We encourage you to start thinking like an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur outlook gives you confidence, swagger, autonomy, and choice. Learn to view NEPZA, your employer, as your “client”.

“It is liberating and will help you navigate your career paths and remain resilient. Do something every day to work towards your goal. Once you have some picture of where you want to go, get things moving by taking a steps towards your vision.

What matters most is that you do a little thing on a regular basis towards a progress. As the saying goes, a journey of thousand miles begins with a single step.

He told the participants that their employment into NEPZA, was the beginning of their career as a Free Zone specialist  and should start their personal passage to a better working life.

He advised them to continue to read for inspiration, guidance and working

tools to help discover smart ways to be in control of their schedules, and for whatever job that there were assigned.

“The whole concept of free zone is ever changing from what it was two decades ago. So it is with making a career in the Free Trade Zone Scheme. Career generally is no longer what you do in the office – your career is no longer distinct from the rest of your life.

“It includes everything you do to stay in shape physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, intellectually- In order to do your best at work.

“In Carlcon, we believe that continuous learning and building social network is very important, that you must be open to new ideas, agile in tumultuous situation, always plan ahead, and turn quickly to problem solving when things go wrong.

“Free Trade Zones are leading us into globalisation; and creating wealth, jobs and generating income in the desperately poor countries. We want you to understand how and fashion out the part you can play.’’
