The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), says the average price per litre paid by Nigerian consumers for National Household Kerosene decreased to N290.74 in December 2018 from N298.32 recorded in November 2018.
The bureau said this in its “National Household Kerosene Price Watch (December 2018 )’’ released in Abuja.
According to the NBS, the price of kerosene decreased by 2.54 per cent month-on-month and increased by 0.04 per cent year-on-year in the period under review.
It said the states with the highest average price per litre of kerosene are Abuja (N355.56) , Imo (N332.46), and Enugu (N330.45).
It also named states with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene to be Lagos (N260.78), Taraba (N257.69) and Niger (N257.50).
Similarly, the bureau said the average price per gallon paid by consumers for kerosene increased to N1,156.41 in December 2018 from N1,145.21 in November of the same year.
It said the price per gallon of kerosene increased by 0.98 per cent month-on-month and 8.72per cent year-on-year in the period under review.
“States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene are Jigawa (N1,342.86), Ekiti (N1,377.37) and Zamfara (N1,294.44).
“Also,states with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene are Rivers (N1,015.63), Niger (N995.00) and Bayelsa (N991.67).
Meanwhile, the bureau in its Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch for December 2018 ’’ report said the price of petrol decreased to N145.80 in December 2018 from N147.50 recorded in November 2018.
According to the report, the price of petrol decreased by -15.1 per cent year-on-year and -1.1 per cent month-on-month in the period under review.
It said the average prices paid by consumers for petrol in the North-Central, North- West and North-East region of the country was N145.99, N145.12 and N147.08 respectively.
It also said the price paid by consumers for petrol in the South-West, South-South and South East was N145.29, N145.83 and N145.34 respectively.
The bureau listed states with the highest average price of petrol to include Taraba (N150.27), Gombe (N150.20) and Bayelsa (N150.00).
Similarly, it listed Jigawa (N144.21), Bauchi (N144.20) and Yobe (N143.33) as states with the lowest average price of petrol in the period under review.
