The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has banned unlicensed operators from the port as part of measures to sanitise the council and check unwholesome practices in the freight forwarding sector.
Mr Abubakar Tsanni, Chairman of the council, made said in Lagos state when he spoke on the agenda of the newly inaugurated council’s board.
Tsanni said that the council was ready to sanitise the practice of freight forwarding with the introduced impactful reforms that would make the sector be in synergy with the federal government’s policy of Ease of Doing Businesses in Nigeria.
Accordingly to him, the council is working hard to unite all the associations in the sector in order to bring everybody on the same page and for ease of official communications and enforcement.
“We are going to institute professional training in all the zones of the country with a view to making the operators better persons unlike their present public impression.
“It is after the trainings and enlightenment campaigns that enforcement of corrective measures will be administered on erring members,” Tsanni said.
He said noted that since the council’s operations was devoid of any litigation, “the present board as constituted is good to go with presidents of the various clearing associations as members of the council.’’
CRFFN vice chairman, Mr Henry Njoku, disclosed that since the council had resolved all outstanding issues, it would now try and work around how foreign nationals could now clear their own goods in port.
