Nigeria to lift 100m people out of poverty
Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has reveals plans by government to lift more than 100 million people out of poverty in the next 10 years.
Osimbajo made this promise on Thursday at Abdullahi Fodio palace in Birnin Kebbi when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar.
He said that the plan would be achieved with the support and collaboration of the 36 state governors.
Osinbajo explained that he was in Kebbi to promote National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as well as petty businesses, and to inspect the renovation of markets.
According to the Vice President, the National Micro and Medium Enterprises scheme is a scheme that is designed to developed the business of petty traders in the country, which can alleviate the level of poverty in the country.
He explained that government’s petty traders’ money of less than US$25 would be increased to US$40 if borrowers find it worthy to boost their businesses and alleviate poverty.
