Nigeria hosts Free Zones summit
Nigeria is to host the 2019 Free Zones Stakeholders Summit designed to ensure buy-in from government, policy makers and opinion leaders.
The summit organised by Carlcon Group is to ensure that Free Zone operators were not far away from the expectations of Nigerians and the dynamic tenets of Free Zone Operation.
According to the Managing Director of Carlcon Group, Mr Chris Ndibe, the summit would provide suitable public relations spin-off and produce the “ metric in the evaluation of the trajectory toward achieving Free Zone roles in actualising the Africa Continental Trade Area (AfCFTA) in which Free Zone has high role to play’’.
The summit which would hold at the Transcorp Hilton from November 13 to November 14 has as its theme, “Making Free Zone an integrated part of the National Economic Plan’’.
“The summit will showcase best practices, good governance, transparency and engaging meaningful two-way communication for the development of the scheme in Nigeria,’’ he said in a statement.
High profile participants would are the Controller General of Customs, Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, Federai Ministry of Finance and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Others are Committee of Bankers, Africa Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), World Bank and African Development Bank (AfDB).
