Cabin crew union to strike at Lufthansa subsidiaries
German cabin crew trade union Ufo plans to launch warning strikes at other airlines in the Lufthansa group.
The union had called off a strike at the parent airline after it offered a pay rise of 2 per cent.
On Sunday between 5 and 11 am (0300-0900 GMT), flights by the Lufthansa subsidiaries Eurowings, Germanwings, Lufthansa Cityline and SunExpress are to face strike action nationwide.
The union spokesman, Nicoley Baublies announced on Friday in Frankfurt.
It announced it was calling off its planned strikes at Lufthansa itself after the pay commission said on Friday it had accepted Lufthansa’s offer of a 2-per-cent pay price for cabin crew working for the core company.
More than 300 flights are expected to be hit during the strike period on Sunday.
Tens of thousands of passengers could be affected at Eurowings’ main bases Dusseldorf, Stuttgart and Berlin.
Lufthansa had previously announced that it would continue to offer the flight programme of its core company in Munich and Frankfurt despite the strike, for this, replacement staff had been found internally, the airline said.
