Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) says the Federal Government has made Nigeria a viable business investment destination for potential investors.
Dabiri-Erewa said this at a two-day Nigerian Hajj and Umrah Business Exhibition Summit held in Abuja.
The summit, which was organised by Al Yaro International Company, had the theme, `Creating Enabling Environment for Bilateral Relationship Between Nigerians and Saudis’.
The NIDCOM boss said that Nigeria, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, “has created an enabling environment for businesses to prosper and has given NIDCOM the capacity to spearhead Diasporas’ involvement.”
According to her, the summit has made history because it is young Nigerian men in the diaspora that have made it possible, and it is the first time “we’re having this kind of commitment by young Nigerians ”.
She praised Al Yaro International Company for organising the summit and described them as “true examples of what Nigerians should be in the international world.
“ I am glad that we will be holding the second edition of the summit in Saudi Arabia, where we will be taking Nigerian products to Saudi Arabia. And I tell you anyone who is smart who knows what the Al Yaro brothers have done in the investment world will know it is just the way to go.
“I assure you that we are going to work with you in making diaspora investment a thing to be proud of and also support you to ensure that the next leg of this summit becomes very successful.
“We have more than 50 Nigerians living in Saudi Arabia who came for the exhibition, but who have never been to Nigeria before now.
“So to those of you who are home welcome home and to the Saudi citizens who are here for the first time welcome to Nigeria.
“Nigeria is a beautiful country and a land of opportunities and I know that this is happening for the first time under the leadership of Mr President, and we will be talking to the promotion council to promote what these young Nigerians are doing here.
“Nigerians are hardworking people with the desire to change the world wherever they are all around the globe,’’ she said.
Responding, Alh. Musa Yahaya-Yaro, the Director of the company said that the exhibition was organised to open opportunities for cooperation between Nigerian and Saudi Arabian companies.
He added that the summit was organised to provide an ideal platform for Nigerian and Saudi companies to display their products.
He said that the main idea of the forum was to sensitise Nigerians living in Saudi Arabia and their Saudi friends to the abundant business opportunities in Nigeria.
“Al Yaro International Company speaks to investors outside Nigeria about the immense investment opportunities available in the country and the government’s readiness to have investors come to the country.
“Recently, the company signed an agreement with Saudi Exhibition Company, which outcome will allow Nigerian companies to participate in Saudi agriculture and building exhibitions.
“So we are inviting Nigerian companies to participate in these two exhibitions,’’ he said.
